Sofia Jern

Visiting Scholar


Sofia Jern is a Visiting Scholar at the Johns Hopkins SAIS Foreign Policy Institute. Sofia is from Finland and grew up in Kenya. She is pursuing a Master’s degree in International Law and Human Rights at Åbo Akademi University in Finland. Her research interests are indigenous intellectual property rights and human rights in Africa. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in photojournalism from Novia University of Applied Sciences. Before joining the Foreign Policy Institute, Sofia worked for Svensk Ungdom, the youth department of Swedish People’s Party in Finland and as a freelance photojournalist in East Africa.
