Tizoc Chavez

Post-Doctoral Fellow


Tizoc Chavez is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute of Johns Hopkins SAIS. His research interests include U.S. foreign relations, personal diplomacy, summitry, and American presidential leadership. He holds a Ph.D. in history from Vanderbilt University where he was also a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Political Science teaching courses in foreign policy, national security, and diplomacy. He is currently working on a book project that examines the use of leader-to-leader diplomacy by American presidents in the Cold War era and how the practice became a central component of U.S. foreign relations, international politics, and the modern presidency.
